Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Are step-by-step messages on the cooker display essential?
Yes. The exact V4 page documents an on-unit message bar and step-by-step recipe presets; a phone recipe app is not treated as remote control.
Explore this need in the finder →Must the Slow Cook program offer a Medium heat setting?
No. The V4 manual lists only Low and High for Slow Cook; this SKU should not satisfy a hard Medium-setting request.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact six-quart V4 provide a selectable timer ceiling above 24 hours?
Yes. The page-linked manual gives 99 hours 30 minutes for each named Slow Cook choice; that control limit is not recipe advice.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the cooker start a slow-cook cycle by app from away from the appliance?
Unknown for SKU 112-0169-01. A recipe-app illustration does not establish appliance start/monitor/adjust control.
Explore this need in the finder →The Instant Pot Duo Plus WhisperQuiet 6QT (112-0169-01) is a pressure multicooker with a separate, non-pressure Slow Cook program. It makes most sense when you want that slow-cooking option alongside pressure cooking, sautéing, steaming, sous vide and other programs in one base. Its most useful slow-cook distinction is a guided on-appliance display: the exact product page describes a message bar, progress indicator and 25 recipe presets. That is different from a plain countdown or a phone app that only supplies recipes.

Guidance on the cooker, but a different recipe routine from a dedicated pot
The control panel has a message bar and progress display that walks through its cooking steps. You select one of the unit’s listed program choices and can follow prompts on the display. The manufacturer also pictures its Instant Connect recipe app, but that does not establish remote control of this cooker; choose it for the on-unit guidance, not for starting or checking a cycle from another room. The 25 recipe presets are not 25 independently tested slow-cook recipes, and we do not infer results from the preset count.
For slow cooking, the R24 U.S. manual lists six Smart Programs: Custom defaults to four hours, Chicken to four, Pasta to three, Soup to six, Beef to six and Beans to eight. Each starts at High by default and has a selectable range from 30 minutes to 99 hours 30 minutes. You can change the temperature to Low or High, not Medium. Instant Pot’s instructions say the High setting reaches its maximum temperature sooner than Low and give minimum recommended cook times of three hours on High and four on Low; these are manufacturer instructions, not independent cooking tests. The extraordinarily long timer ceiling is a control limit, not a recipe suggestion or permission to hold food for days.
Keep Warm is on by default after a timed Slow Cook cycle, and Delay Start is available for this program. The general Delay Start range is 10 minutes to 24 hours. A start delay is not the same as choosing when dinner should be ready, and neither control changes the food’s safe handling requirements.
A stainless pot and other modes—used one at a time
The maker lists a six-quart 18/8 stainless-steel inner pot with an anti-spin tri-ply bottom. The same pot sits in the base for in-unit Sauté before a separate Slow Cook cycle, so you can brown ingredients without transferring them to a second pan. The stainless surface is not a documented nonstick coating. The package page includes a stainless steam rack with handles and two extra sealing rings; the page also lists the lid and inner pot as dishwasher-safe. Follow the manual for the lid’s separate parts and cleaning instructions rather than treating the complete pressure lid like a glass slow-cooker cover.
Pressure Cook, Slow Cook, Steam, Sauté, Sous Vide, Rice, Yogurt, Cake and Keep Warm are separate functions, not simultaneous jobs. In Slow Cook the program does not use pressure, but the manual still describes placing and locking the appliance lid. That is a more involved setup than a glass-lid crock, and it has pressure-lid parts to clean. The manufacturer says the appliance must not be used on a stove or in an oven; that warning does not establish that the loose insert is safe on an external burner, so do not count it as a stovetop-to-slow-cooker pot.
Check the footprint and the control choice
The exact six-quart page lists 1,000 watts at 120 volts and 60 Hz, a one-year limited warranty, and closed dimensions of 13.43 inches long, 13.35 wide and 12.76 high. Weight and the clearance needed to lift the lid are not listed. Measure the counter and cabinet opening before buying, and leave the space the manual requires around the appliance. A nominal six-quart rating is not a serving guarantee.
This 6QT version suits a household that values on-screen prompts and wants one appliance for slow cooking plus distinct pressure and other programs. It is a poor match if you need a Medium heat option, a confirmed stovetop-safe insert, a simple open-glass-lid cooker or app-based appliance control. If you prefer a traditional Medium/Low/High control and a shorter 24-hour Slow Cook timer, compare the different DUO Plus V3 6QT (112-0156-01). If you regularly need an eight-quart vessel and can give the larger base room, compare the separately assessed WhisperQuiet 8QT (113-0058-01); its capacity, power and body dimensions are not the same as this model. A dedicated slow cooker may be the simpler choice when pressure cooking and the other multicooker routines would go unused.
Read the manufacturer’s 112-0169-01 product page and its R24 Duo Plus U.S. manual for the complete setup, program and care instructions.
