Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the same removable pot sear food on a stovetop before slow cooking?
Yes, on gas, electric or ceramic cooktops per the manufacturer; induction is not listed. The base itself is not the stovetop pan.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the cooker travel with the lid latched after the meal is cooked?
It has wire clips that secure the lid for transport and help limit spills. The manual says not to latch it during cooking or storage, and to lift the cooker by its base handles.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it offer a digital countdown and an automatic Warm transition?
Yes. Choose High, Low or Warm and a separate 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 hours; it changes to Warm at the end, within the fourteen-hour combined cook-and-warm limit.
Explore this need in the finder →The Hamilton Beach Stay or Go Sear & Cook 33663MN pairs a six-quart removable stovetop-safe pot with clips to secure the lid for carrying. Its cooking routine is otherwise close to the 33662MN.

Stovetop searing, then a slow-cook cycle
Hamilton Beach describes the removable aluminum pot as coated with PFAS-free ceramic nonstick and compatible with gas, electric and ceramic stovetops. You can sear food in that pan and move it to the slow-cooker base, avoiding a separate skillet for a compatible recipe. The product page also calls the pot oven-safe, but neither the exact page nor its manual gives a maximum oven temperature. The appliance base is not the oven-safe part: the instructions say to cook only in the removable pot and not to put the base into a heated oven.
The maker’s stovetop list does not include induction. If your kitchen uses an induction hob, compatibility is unknown here; do not assume that a coated aluminum vessel will work just because the manufacturer approves other electric cooking surfaces. A different cooker may be a better fit if induction searing is essential. The pot also remains a removable slow-cooker vessel, not a general-purpose metal skillet, and the coating label alone does not establish long-term abrasion resistance.
This differs from a Cook Central-style appliance that browns in its base. With the 33663MN, the pot itself moves to a listed stovetop. With in-base browning, the heat source and browning program stay in the appliance. Which routine saves a dish depends on the recipe and where you want to brown; neither wording should be mistaken for the other.
Countdown controls with automatic Warm
The control panel selects among High, Low and Warm and five time settings: two, four, six, eight or ten hours. Because temperature and duration can be mixed independently, Hamilton Beach calls this 15 heating options. It is button-based digital countdown cooking, not the manual dial routine and not One Touch preset cooking. The manual says the unit defaults to four hours on High when plugged in, and the selected time counts down in two-hour increments.
Once the cooking period ends, the cooker automatically enters Warm. The manual specifies a fourteen-hour maximum for continuous cooking plus warming, then the appliance turns off. The Warm time therefore depends on the selected cook period; this is not a fixed fourteen-hour Warm hold. Use Warm only after food has been thoroughly cooked. If you have chilled leftovers, the manual directs you to reheat them on Low or High before switching to Warm. A shopper who needs the machine to calculate when to start so a meal finishes at a chosen clock time will need a different kind of timer.
The six-quart oval pot is listed for a six-pound chicken or four-pound roast, and the maker says it serves seven or more. These are size examples, not serving guarantees. Food type, liquid, recipe volume and the household’s portions all affect fit. The manual recommends at least a half-full pot for best results and advises checking earlier when only half full.
The clips help with travel—but do not remove the need for care
The 33663MN’s wire clips hook over the lid and latch it to the base, unlike the standard-lid 33662MN. The maker says they help prevent messy spills, not that they stop all leakage. The guide says to use them for transport only, never for cooking or storage. Carry by the base handles, not the lid clips.
The exact product page publishes a closed-body size of 9.7 inches high, 17.1 inches wide and 11 inches deep; its dimension line has a typographical extra “x” before D, but the page’s image text confirms the same three measurements. Open-lid clearance and empty appliance weight are not published in the checked materials. If you have a low cabinet, a narrow shelf or a lifting limit, measure the cooker and raised lid before deciding that the published closed dimensions solve the fit question.
Cleaning and the daily routine
Both the coated pot and glass lid are listed as dishwasher-safe. The manual asks you to let them cool, avoid sudden temperature changes and avoid the dishwasher’s Sani cycle. The controls and base should be wiped, not immersed. Thaw meat before slow cooking, and do not use Warm as a cooking temperature. These instructions matter if the pan is coming directly from a hot stovetop or oven: use protective mitts and a heat-resistant surface rather than setting the hot vessel on an unprotected counter.
For a weeknight meal that stays home, the 33662MN offers the same essential stove-to-base cooking plan without the clips. For a family potluck or a meal brought to another kitchen, the 33663MN earns its extra hardware. If neither stovetop pot use nor travel is important, a simpler six-quart digital model may avoid paying attention to features your routine will not use.
Best fit
Choose the 33663MN when you want the removable pot to sear on a manufacturer-listed stovetop, then use a direct countdown slow-cook cycle, and you value a clipped lid for transport. Skip it if you need a manually set dial, One Touch preset programs, a meal-finish scheduler, documented induction compatibility, known open-lid clearance or a published weight limit. The 33662MN is the closest comparison: its cooking and cleaning routine is similar, while this model adds lid clips. That narrow distinction is the clearest reason to choose the Stay or Go version.
Key details at a glance
| Nominal removable-pot capacity | 6 qt |
|---|---|
| Published outside dimensions | The exact product page's image text gives 9.7 H x 17.1 W x 11 D inches and the category card agrees; its dimensions line contains a typographical extra 'x' before D. These are closed-body dimensions, not clearance with the lid raised. |
| Sous-vide water-bath mode | No |

| Timed cooking controls | TEMP selects High, Low or Warm and HOURS selects 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 hours independently. Manual 840313900 says the default is four hours on High; after a timed cook the appliance switches to Warm. Cooking and warming together cannot exceed fourteen continuous hours, then the cooker turns off. This is a duration countdown, not a desired meal-finish schedule. |
| Removable pot and lid care | The removable pot can be used on gas, electric and ceramic stovetops and in an oven; induction compatibility and maximum oven temperature are not stated. The base cannot go in an oven, the lid is not for the stove/oven/microwave, and the pan and lid are dishwasher-safe. Manual 840313900 warns against the dishwasher Sani cycle and sudden temperature changes. |
| Warm-setting guidance | Warm is only for food that has been thoroughly cooked, not for cooking or reheating. The appliance's fourteen-hour maximum includes both cook and Warm time; it shuts off at the limit. |
