Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can this cooker switch between slow cooking and air frying?
Yes. It has separate interchangeable 6-quart slow-cook and 4.2-quart air-fry vessels. It cannot cook in both at once; they are separate operating routines.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I monitor an internal food temperature during Slow Cook?
Yes. The model manual describes using the supplied probe with Slow Cook and switching to Warm when the selected internal temperature is reached.
Explore this need in the finder →Will a timed slow-cook cycle automatically move to Warm?
Yes. At the selected time the slow cooker switches to Warm; the manual caps the combined cook-and-Warm run at 24 hours. Warm is not a cooking or reheating setting.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I use the food probe while Air Cooking?
The product page broadly describes the probe for air frying and roasting, but the model-matched manual says it is for Slow Cook only and reports an error in AIR COOK. This assessment does not recommend probe use in an Air Cook mode until the maker reconciles the conflict.
Explore this need in the finder →The Hamilton Beach DuoCook Air Fry Slow Cooker 33603 combines a six-quart slow cooker with a separate 4.2-quart basket air fryer. Swap the two vessels in one base for separate cooking routines; it is not a two-zone cooker. If you only need a timed pot of stew, a simpler cooker takes less counter space. The DuoCook makes sense when both functions will be used regularly.

Two vessels, not one larger cooking space
The package contains a six-quart slow-cooker pot and a 4.2-quart air-fry basket with crisper tray and grease catcher. They are interchangeable parts; do not add their capacities together. The manual specifically says not to place the air-fry basket inside the slow-cook pot. The smaller basket is the real constraint if you plan to air-fry for more than one or two people: the manual recommends keeping it no more than half full so air can move around the food. That guidance, plus the basket’s listed capacity, is more useful than treating the product as a six-quart air fryer.
Hamilton Beach lists outside dimensions of 13.3 H × 14.8 W × 13.9 D inches; weight and lid-open clearance are not published. The parts nest for storage, but the outside dimensions do not include the space needed to open the lid or remove a hot basket.
Slow Cook: probe support, then Warm
The digital Slow Cook controls offer Low, Medium, High and Warm; the default is Low for eight hours. The manual describes Low as commonly taking six to eight hours, Medium three to six and High two to four, but these are guidance ranges rather than a verified user-selectable limit. You can set a cooking time, and when it ends the cooker moves to Warm. Cooking plus Warm cannot exceed 24 hours before the appliance shuts off. That is a device cutoff, not a food-quality recommendation, and Warm is for food that is already cooked rather than for cooking or reheating.
A supplied temperature probe can be used in Slow Cook. The manual directs you to place its tip in the center or thickest part of the food, away from the pot’s sides and bottom; at the selected internal temperature, the unit changes to Warm. This is useful for a roast or other large piece whose doneness matters more than a fixed recipe clock. It does not make the unit a meal-finish scheduler: a slow-cook timer starts when selected, and the checked page and manual do not document a delayed start or a “ready at” time.
There is a source conflict worth taking seriously. The product page says the probe can be used for air frying, roasting or slow cooking. The 33603 manual says “Slow Cook only,” and its troubleshooting section says the probe cannot be used with AIR COOK settings. I rely on the model-matched manual for operation and count probe use only in Slow Cook. Do not assume it monitors an Air Fry, Bake or Roast cycle unless Hamilton Beach clarifies the discrepancy.
Air Cook: crisping is a separate routine
The Air Cook controls provide Air Fry, Bake, Roast and Warm. The manual lets you set Air Fry, Bake and Roast for one to 60 minutes and 150°F to 400°F in five-degree increments. Preheating is not required. For Air Fry, the appliance beeps halfway through as a reminder to turn or shake food; lifting the lid does not pause that mode, while lifting it during Bake, Roast or Air-Cook Warm pauses cooking. Timed Air Cook programs shut off at the end rather than automatically switching to Slow-Cook Warm. The manual says to install the grease catcher and not to overfill the basket; the probe is not compatible with Air Cook.
The basket still holds 4.2 quarts and the manual recommends no more than half-full, so it may not replace a larger air fryer for big batches. Pot roast uses the slow-cook pot; fries use the basket and a different control routine. The second mode adds options, not a faster slow cook.
Care, materials and the unresolved caution
The maker describes the ceramic nonstick pieces as PFAS-free; this is not independent durability testing. The pot, basket, tray, grease catcher and glass lid are dishwasher-safe, except the manual says not to use Sanitize. Wipe the exterior, keep the base and cord out of water, and cook only in a removable vessel. Stovetop, microwave, oven and broiler use of the pot are unconfirmed.
The manual gives a 60-minutes-on-in-a-two-hour-period duty-cycle caution but also describes multi-hour slow cooking without explaining the apparent conflict. Ask Hamilton Beach how to interpret this before a long run; the guide also says not to operate the unit unattended.
Who should choose the 33603?
Choose it for both slow cooking and a separate basket-air-fry routine, particularly if probe-assisted Slow Cook is useful. It is harder to justify if you only need Low, Medium or High. The Hamilton Beach 33604 instead offers in-vessel searing, steaming and grain programs; the simpler 33670 is a better comparison when air frying is unnecessary. For two dishes cooked at once, consider the 33569 Double Dish, but its manual dial requires you to manage the finish.
The product page showed the 33603 out of stock when captured; this is a dated manufacturer-page snapshot, not evidence of stock elsewhere or a promise of future availability. Before choosing, decide whether the smaller basket and the unresolved probe/duty-cycle instructions suit your routine. See the Hamilton Beach 33603 page and its model-linked Use & Care guide for details.
Key details at a glance
| Nominal removable-pot capacity | 6 qt |
|---|---|
| Published outside dimensions | Hamilton Beach lists outside dimensions of 13.3 H × 14.8 W × 13.9 D inches. Appliance weight and open-lid clearance are not listed. |
| Sous-vide water-bath mode | No |
| Pressure-cooking program | No |
| Manual heat-setting dial | No |
| Timed cooking controls | The manual allows selection of slow-cook time and Low/Medium/High, defaults to Low for 8 hours, and switches to Warm when the chosen slow-cook time ends. It does not list a precise programmable slow-cook time range in the inspected English table. AIR COOK Air Fry/Bake/Roast settings have selectable time from 1–60 minutes; those are different operating plans. |
| Removable pot and lid care | The manual lists the slow-cooker pot, glass lid, air-fry basket and grease catcher as dishwasher-safe, but says not to use the Sanitize cycle. Only cook in the removable pot or air-fry basket, never directly in the base. The page/manual do not establish stovetop, microwave, conventional-oven or broiler compatibility for the pot. |
| Warm-setting guidance | After a timed slow-cook cycle, the appliance enters Warm; the manual says the combined cook-and-Warm run cannot exceed 24 hours and turns off then. This is a device limit, not a recommended food-holding duration. Warm is for already-cooked food, not cooking or reheating. |
| Separate Little Dipper food warmer included | No |
| Casserole-format insert | No |
| Insulated carry bag included | No |
| Nonstick removable pot | Yes |
| Removable pot material | The removable slow-cooker pot, air-fry basket and cooking components are described as ceramic nonstick-coated; the underlying vessel materials are not specified. |
