A useful fit for

A household that wants one countertop base for adjustable-time High/Low/Simmer slow cooking, in-unit browning before slow cooking, and a separate steam function.

The main tradeoff

The nonstick aluminum pot is designed for this appliance, not for a stovetop or oven. The official exact page showed Out of Stock when checked; weight, outside dimensions, lid-open clearance and transport hardware were not established, and the page-linked booklet cover uses MSC-6002 rather than the NAS suffix.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want to brown or sauté ingredients in the multicooker pot before slow cooking?

Yes. The instruction booklet sets Brown/Sauté at 150–400°F and says the unit can switch directly from browning to Slow Cook. The pot is not for a stovetop or oven.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you need a separate steam program and rack in the same countertop cooker?

Yes. Steam is a distinct program of up to 90 minutes with at most two quarts of water and the included raised rack; it is not a simultaneous steam-and-slow-cook mode.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you want variable digital slow-cook time followed by automatic Keep Warm?

Yes. High, Low or Simmer can be programmed up to 24 hours, then Keep Warm runs for eight hours before the heater shuts off. This is not a delayed start.

Explore this need in the finder →
Will the nonstick aluminum cooking pot itself go on the stove or into an oven?

No. Cuisinart says the cooking pot was designed for this appliance and does not suggest stovetop or oven use; Brown/Sauté happens with the pot seated in the multicooker base.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does this nominal six-quart cooker meet your required capacity?

It meets a six-quart minimum but not a capacity requirement above six quarts. The rating is not a serving guarantee or a fill-to-the-rim instruction.

Is a published empty weight essential to your carrying plan?

The exact page-linked specifications do not publish weight. If a weight limit is essential, this model cannot establish that it fits; if not, compare its other documented functions.

The Cuisinart Cook Central MSC-600NAS is a six-quart slow cooker with two extra programs: Brown/Sauté in the appliance pot and a separate steam cycle. It can replace a pan for some prep steps, but the pot is not a stove or oven pan, and the functions do not run simultaneously.

More than a slow-cook setting

The Cook Central offers High, Low, Simmer and Warm with adjustable slow-cook time up to 24 hours. The LCD shows time and temperature; choose a setting and start it immediately, rather than scheduling a delayed start. After timed High, Low or Simmer, it moves to Keep Warm for eight hours and then switches the heater off.

Warm is also a standalone function for food that has already cooked. Although the manual allows its timer to be set as long as 24 hours, that is not a recommendation for prolonged holding. If you need only a basic crock with timed cooking and a finished-cycle handoff, a conventional slow cooker may be simpler.

Brown/Sauté is the main change to the prep routine. Select 150°F to 400°F (350°F is the default), wait for preheating, then add food to the pot in the base. The instructions say you can switch directly to Slow Cook without stopping or restarting. That can keep browning and braising in one vessel, but the process still needs attention; a Brown/Sauté timer begins after the unit reaches the chosen temperature.

There is an important boundary: the removable nonstick aluminum cooking pot is designed for the Cook Central. Cuisinart's linked instructions say it is not suggested for stovetop or oven use. In-unit browning is not the same as a removable pot that can be placed directly on a burner. If your recipe depends on using one pot across the stove, oven and slow cooker, verify another exact model's manual rather than assuming the material or temperature rating permits it.

Steam is useful, but it is a separate cycle

The Steam program uses the supplied rack in its raised position and up to two quarts of liquid. It runs up to 90 minutes; its temperature is fixed, and the countdown begins after preheating. The manual warns that the unit shuts off if the water boils away. Steaming is a separate rack-and-water routine, not a simultaneous slow-cook mode.

All removable parts are dishwasher-safe, and the instruction booklet specifies the top rack for the pot, glass lid and steaming rack. The heating housing and controls are not washable parts: unplug and let the unit cool, wipe the outside, and never immerse the base. The manual also cautions against sudden temperature changes and says to put a hot pot on a trivet or rack. The nonstick surface may simplify cleanup, but neither this assessment nor the manufacturer's feature list establishes how long a coating will last or how it performs after repeated use.

Capacity, footprint and model identification

The listed capacity is six quarts, not a serving guarantee. The exact MSC-600NAS page and linked booklet do not provide appliance weight, outside dimensions or raised-lid clearance. Measure the intended counter and storage space; do not borrow figures from the separate discontinued MSC-600 model.

For used-unit or parts matching, note that the page-linked booklet cover names the Cook Central 3-in-1 “MSC-6002,” without the NAS suffix. Use the appliance data label when checking replacement parts. The exact page does not document a travel lock or included carry case, so do not treat the lid and side handles as proof of upright transport hardware.

The manufacturer lists a three-year limited warranty. Its exact page showed Out of Stock on October 23, 2026; that dated status says nothing about retailer inventory or future availability.

Who should shortlist the MSC-600NAS?

Shortlist it when you will use its six-quart pot, variable digital timer, automatic Warm, in-base browning or separate steam function. The finder lets you make those extra functions essential; unknown capabilities on other models will not qualify.

Choose another model if you need a confirmed travel lock or bag, published weight or clearance, a stovetop/oven-safe removable pot, sous-vide or a meal-finish schedule. The Crock-Pot CPSCRTO60-OM centers on sous-vide; the seven-quart SCCPVF710-PL-WM-BR is a more conventional digital slow cooker. Neither is a same-pot Brown/Sauté substitute.

Timed cooking controlsThe LCD and time directionals set a variable slow-cook time up to 24 hours. High, Low or Simmer completes into an eight-hour automatic Keep Warm period, after which the heater switches off. Warm selected as its own function defaults to eight hours and may be programmed up to 24 hours. The booklet does not document a delayed-start routine or a slow-cook probe.
Removable pot and lid careThe removable cooking pot is nonstick aluminum; the page and booklet say removable parts are dishwasher-safe, and the booklet specifies the top rack for the pot, lid and rack. Cuisinart says the cooking pot was designed for use in this multicooker and does not suggest using it on a stove or in an oven. Unplug and let the unit cool before washing; wipe the housing, never immerse it, and use a trivet for the hot pot.
Warm-setting guidanceAfter a timed High, Low or Simmer slow-cook cycle, Keep Warm runs for eight hours and the heater then turns off. Warm alone is not a cooking mode; the manual says it defaults to eight hours and can be programmed to 24 hours. That setting range is not presented as a recommendation for prolonged food holding.
