Instant Pot Superior Cooker 140-4040-01 vs 140-6128-01
The Superior Cooker names sound nearly interchangeable, and both machines share a 7.5-quart, 800-watt digital cooker format. The exact packages are not identical, however. The 140-4040-01 page calls out Bonus Accessories; its U.S. manual names an Easy-Lift Silicone Sling and a Silicone Storage Lid. The 140-6128-01 Chef Series manual instead identifies model SCMC8000 and lists the cooking pot, glass lid and base. Compare the complete code and matching manual, not just “Superior Cooker.”
What the two manuals have in common
Each manual documents a Low/High, digitally timed slow-cook cycle. Both begin with a six-hour default and allow a 30-minute to 24-hour countdown. Both turn Keep Warm on by default after a timed slow-cook program, and the warm elapsed display can count up to ten hours. That is a timer limit, not a safe holding-time recommendation. The cookers also have a separate Sauté program for browning in the pot and a separate Steam program; those modes run as stages, not simultaneously with Slow Cook.
The removable pot on each is aluminum with a ceramic nonstick coating. Both manufacturer manuals allow dishwasher cleaning for the pot and glass lid. Neither exact manual confirms the loose pot for stovetop or oven use. In-base Sauté should not be mistaken for a stove-safe insert, and digital timing does not add pressure cooking, a slow-cook delay or a ready-at schedule.
Choose by the package difference
Pick the 140-4040-01 assessment if the lifting sling or silicone storage lid will serve a real kitchen routine. The exact manual identifies both. It calls its slow program “Slow Cook,” then gives wet-roast recipes as a way to use that mode. The 140-4040-01 manual’s specification table identifies its model as SCMC6001.
Choose the 140-6128-01 Chef Series only after checking its actual carton contents. Its manual calls its one timed setting “Slow Cook/Roast” and identifies the model as SCMC8000. Its “What’s in the Box” list names the pot, lid and base but does not name the bonus sling or a roast rack. General product-page language about silicone accessories does not identify a particular steam support. Treat an included sling as unconfirmed for 140-6128-01, rather than silently borrowing the 140-4040-01 kit.
Do not confuse a combined menu label with a separate Roast feature
The Chef Series front panel and guide combine Slow Cook/Roast in one menu. The control is not a separate Roast program plus a supplied rack, which is a more specific need some shoppers may have. The 140-4040-01 guide has a Slow Cook menu and mentions wet roasting in its recipe advice, but it likewise does not add a rack-supported Roast program. If a distinct Roast cycle and included rack matter, neither bundle is confirmed to meet that requirement.
Check the exact identity before using a listing or manual
Both product pages list 14.02 wide, 10.24 high and 15.16 long without units; do not presume those are inches for cabinet planning. Neither reviewed exact source set publishes an empty weight. The manufacturer pages each describe one year of limited warranty coverage subject to their terms. The manuals and package names are version-specific: SKU 140-4040-01 is tied here to manual code 399-1010-01US / model SCMC6001, while SKU 140-6128-01 is tied to 399-1257-03US / model SCMC8000.
